Holiday Books
Every holiday finds more books being added to my bursting library. This year was no exception with Tandy and the girls buying me:
- Poland Spring: A Tale of the Gilded Age 1860-1900 [Amazon]
David L. Richards
We drive through Poland Spring on the way to camp and I have often asked Tandy about the old resort there. This text looks a bit dry but a thorough treatment of the subject. - South Portland: A Nostalgic Look At Our Neighborhood Stores
Karthryn Onos DiPhilippo
I am a corner-store geek! This book is an incredible review of the corner-stores and shops in South Portland. - Moral Men Need Not Apply: One Man's Quest to Become a Catholic Priest In America's Decaying Culture
R. Donal McGaffigan
This book is a bit conservative for Tandy (compare to Jesus is not a Republican), but I figure I will give it a go. I am pretty sure she bought it because it said "Catholic." - C.S. Lewis & Narnia for Dummies
Richard Wagner
This is my first "Dummies" book, which I find to be obnoxious, but I do love C.S. Lewis so I will give it a good read.
- Representing the Republic: Mapping the United States 1600-1900
John Rennie Short
Nothing like work and pleasure merging! The moment I saw this book I knew I wanted it. - In the Devil's Snare: The Salem Witchcraft Crisis of 1692
Mary Beth Norton
This is another book I am very much looking forward to, as it is a period of history which interests me greatly. - Sexual Revolution in Early America
Richard Godbeer
Okay. By way of confession, the title of the book is what jumped out at me from the first. The text turned me from a browser to a buyer with its coverage of the moral agency of women in the period, a topic discussed in another book I am reading now.
- The Accurate Table Saw [lee valley]
Ian Kirby
